Surprised he got anything at all. You knew this would be a joke. Three games? TCU being the only real game. I like the have no contact rule. Who actually monitors that? Give me a break.

We're staying home for the holidays although we may venture into town next weekend for the Clemson/South Carolina game at Colonial Life. We went back to Georgia for Thanksgiving and visited my son & his mom but that's enough holiday travelling for me. I'm nosy. What are the rest of you VolTalkers planning (or not planning)?

We just got back from a trip to Denver to visit our daughter. She moved there this summer to take a job teaching high school English. Went 13 of the 19 miles up Pikes Peak (the rest was closed) and got to see some snow. Merry Christmas!

It wasn't too long ago that Vol teams were lacking in size & strength and lost games by being out-rebounded, out-hustled and just plain out-muscled. Those days are gone.

Congrats to Montario for getting a full time gig. Looks like he will coach the RBs for Helton

I live a few blocks from WKU, so at whatever welcoming event I will go and see what kind of autograph/photo I can get...

Don't think he has any real ties. I think Pruitt will go like he has already and promote from within or someone he is real familiar with. I honestly think he is looking for any reason he can to get Propst on staff so I think there will be some repositioning on the current staff and Propst will be brought in. Most likely scenario is Weinke or Friend get promoted and Propst fills whatever position ends up left or Osovet gets a full time gig and Propst is a quality control guy

I felt like the bad thing about the Auburn game was they had to face Bama the next week. I was afraid if they got shellacked it might take away some of the momentum from the week before. I don't know for sure if that's what happened but I suspected the loss to Carolina might have been some carry-over. This time they have the opportunity to build on what they accomplished Saturday. Like Pruitt said, it's hard to know what to expect from this team from game to game but they shouldn't lack for motivation.

After that performance, I feel ALOT better about the direction of the program. We’re already ahead of the curve on the win/loss ratio compared to last year. And we still have 2 (hopefully 3) games to go. Plus, we’ve beaten 2 SEC teams both of which were in the top 25. I was downright giddy watching our boys fly all over the field.

I never played football at the organized level so I'm just spitballing here but it seems to me coaching can only do so much about false starts. It's still on the players to have the self discipline to hold their stance. As for the substitution issues I don't know if it's coaching or the players not being prepared. But I still have nightmares about the last seconds that LSU game in Baton Rouge when Dooley was coach and everyone was running around on the field and the sidelines like a Chinese fire drill. The Vols were doing pretty well in avoiding penalties up until a couple of games ago. I don't want to harp on it but they need to tighten back up. No need to give the other guys that kind of help.

Now if Raynoch had been wearing that shirt in his mug shot, that would have been awesome!

I watched a little of their game with Mizzou. From what I saw I was impressed with how the Tigers OL went toe-to-toe with them on the line, did a decent job of blocking, showed good teamwork and opened some holes. If the Vols could get that kind of effort out of their line I'd give them a chance to keep it close but from the keystone kops show they put on against the gators I'm not expecting it. I'm with you Rob, I don't expect miracles this year but at some point it would be nice to see some progress to at least give us hope that things will get turned around eventually. But not this week. Kirby can probably name his score.

I think most people capable of critical thinking are aware that the majority of law enforcement officers and officials are motivated by professionalism and dedication to making a positive difference, or at least hope they are. Which makes it even sadder that the rotten apples get the headlines. I don't consider CK a hero or a traitor. More along the lines of the lunch counter protesters or freedom riders of days gone by. They didn't consider themselves heroes, just people who had had enough and had the guts to call attention to a problem that many Americans at the time didn't care about and were quite happy to ignore. Because it didn't affect them personally. It's true injustice and police brutality have and probably always will exist to some extent. But it doesn't mean those who are victims or perceived as potential threats because of their race have to take it without complaint because those guilty of abuse of authority are in the minority. Time will tell if anything positive comes of CK's act but sometimes you have to shake things up to make a real difference. Just ask the people who had their bus burned in Alabama.

Since the official pickems are (hopefully) delayed for a week or two and if Rob doesn't mind, here are 10 games I came up with this week if you want a warmup week. There are a lot of cupcake games and mismatches so not a lot that require the old crystal ball but here's my guesses. Tennessee over West Virginia Northwestern over Purdue (tonight) Stanford over San Diego St. Oklahoma over Florida Atlantic Washington over Auburn Michigan over Notre Dame Middle Tennessee over Vanderbilt Miami over LSU Alabama over Louisville Florida State over Virginia Tech

Yeah, that's good stuff. CPF (he'll always be coach to me) has always, at least tried to do what was in UT's best intrest. I sincerely believe that. I don't think that has changed. In short, I trust the man. It's been a rough 10 years or so since CPF was fired, but I can smell the wind of change. If nothing else, I believe he's on a mission to set a lot of things right.

It's not hard to believe that once the shit hit the fan OSU was more concerned about public image & maintaining status quo for the football team. But at the end of the day Smith is a wife-beater, Urbie's a not very convincing liar and OSU is reacting to the whole stinking mess about as expected so no good guys in this story. Just assholes and at least one victim. BTW, as a married guy myself, isn't Urbie's tale about Smith's wife telling the whole sordid story to his wife but his wife never saying a word about it to him laugh out loud ridiculous?

Hearing a few things coming out of fall camp. Keller Christ is finally settled down and is pushing Guarantano for starter. Ty Chandler is sharing 1st string snaps with Tim Jordan, both should get plenty of PT. Dominick Wood-Anderson is showing out at TE, and earning PT. OT lineup is taking shape, the return of Trey Smith and Chance Hall is a lot of the reason why. The WR's are off to a slow start, timing issues, dropsies. It sounds like Kongbo is moving to OLB. Shy Tuttle, Alexis Johnson, and Kyle Phillips are shaping up to be the d-line. I hear Greg Emerson, Kingston Harris, and Alonte Harris's names being mentioned a lot. JJ Peterson is missing camp so far. I hear he has academic issues.
