Tennessee baseball rolls past Alabama in back-to-back blowouts to win fifth SEC series

Recommended Posts

Tony Vitello wasn't present in the Tennessee baseball dugout for the final 17 innings against Alabama.

But the Vols played exactly how their coach wants them to.

"We talk about playing with emotion but not playing emotional," said Josh Elander, UT's hitting coach and acting head coach. "Just play our game and do what we need to do.”

No. 1 Tennessee (33-3, 14-1 SEC) rolled Alabama (23-14, 8-7) in a 15-4 win Sunday to win the series with Vitello and pitching coach Frank Anderson suspended following Saturday ejections.

The Vols lost 6-3 on Friday, snapping a 12-game winning streak to start SEC play that set a conference record. UT won 9-2 on Saturday after Vitello and Anderson were ejected in the first inning. Vitello served the first game of a four-game suspension Sunday. Anderson completed a one-game suspension.

Tennessee has won all five SEC series, including sweeping the first four.
