JG explains how new Tennessee OC Jim Chaney has given him 'full command' of offense

Recommended Posts

Jim Chaney returns to a former coaching stop this season as he takes over the Tennessee offense, a position he last held from 2009-12. One of his tasks will be to maximize the talent and execution for QB Jarrett Guarantano.

Guarantano comes off of a season where he threw for 1,907 yards with 12 TDs and three interceptions. Chaney, who spent the last three seasons at Georgia, will give Guarantano “full command” of the offense and more freedom to make adjustments at the line of scrimmage, the quarterback said at SEC Media Days.

At the podium, coach Jeremy Pruitt called the “personable” Chaney a very good communicator, a great teacher, and a good evaluator. Pruitt said Guarantano has the respect of his teammates and coaching staff.

He's one of the most experienced assistants in the SEC.
