Actually Pruitt is on board with his support. This is not meddling. Frankly outside sports articles have no clue what Phil and Jeremy have agreed to. This is one of those "Nothing to see here" issues

Phil needs to stay in the AD office...PERIOD!

Yes, this is meddling.

I have no issue with Fulmer helping, he's probably forgotten more about recruiting than other coaches know.... PERIOD

Phillip needs to play AD. He needs to let the football coach do his job.

Well everyone has an opinion. I have it on good word no one is stepping on anyone's toes and who am I to question it if Pruitt is on board? I will leave it to the qualified folks

A HOF Coach, with 2 SEC championships, a Nat’l Championship, and a 152-52 win/loss record. Recruit away AD Fulmer!! I’m sure Pruitt welcomes Fulmer as a mentor. All successful people surround themselves with good people. This is going to work in both Pruitt’s AND Fulmer’s favor.

Sports sites have even picked up on it.  :shakehead:

This doesn't bode well for Pruitt.

By the looks of it, his athletic director will be hovering over his shoulder very often. And while Fulmer hasn't coached since 2008, it's not too hard to believe he might try to make his way back.

Phillip Fulmer's Latest Quote About Recruiting Isn't Good News for Jeremy Pruitt

LET THE MAN DO HIS JOB, PHIL!!!!!

The young man who wrote that article graduates from University of Maryland Class of 2021, so he's obviously well versed on the SEC...LOL, additionally, I'd listen to an 18-19 year old all day long....WHAT ARE THEY THINKING!! Tell Phillips to back up, listen to this kids from Maryland who has an impressive curriculum vitae in the field of football and recruiting... and ask Pruitt what he knows about recruiting, if he thinks Fulmer would remotely be of benefit to him, the kids, their parents and the coaches...LOL !

Tennessee Vols Football Recruiting

  • Tennessee quarterback commit Michael Penix received an offer from Florida State yesterday.
  • Class of 2018 4-star Florida running back Jerome Ford picked up a Tennessee offer. Listed at 5-11, 195, he’s rated the No. 6 all-purpose back by 247Sports. He’s scheduled to officially visit Alabama this week.
  • It appears that 2018 Nashville offensive tackle Tanner Antonutti snagged a photo with Phillip Fulmer while he was on campus for his official visit. He got a pic with Pruitt too, of course.
  • Four-star tight end Michael Ezeike from Ontario, CA was offered by Tennessee yesterday. He recently decommitted from Oregon. He’s 6-5, 220 and rated by 247 as the No. 9 tight end in the country.
  • This tweet from four-star defensive end Greg Emerson seems positive for Tennessee. He was on campus over the weekend.
  • Alontae Taylor‘s visit also seemed to go well. The 4-star wide receiver/athlete announced that Tennessee is now his leader. Taylor cancelled his Louisville visit and will return to Knoxville next weekend instead.
  • Paxton Brooks went with the photos in full football gear on his visit.
  • After being targeted last week by new Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt, Four-star Florida wide receiver Jacob Copeland announced he’ll visit Tennessee. He’s the No. 9 receiver in the country, according to the 247 composite rankings.
  • It appears coach Pruitt is reaching into the grad transfer ranks to try to find immediate help on the offensive line. Tennessee offered former California lineman Dwayne Wallace. He reportedly plans to visit Knoxville on Thursday. Listed at 6-5, 330 pounds, Wallace played in all 12 games for California in 2016, starting nine of those, but did not play in 2017.
  • Is Tennessee getting a visit from 4-star JUCO tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson?
  • Add yet another wide receiver offer to the list: the Vols offered 2018 4-star Georgia wide receiver Rashod Batemon. He’s been committed to Minnesota since June. Apparently, he’s been recently upgraded to a 4-star.
  • Tennessee commit Ollie Lane announced he’ll be signing on December 20th at 10 a.m. at Gibbs High School.
  • Brandon Cross, a three-star cornerback from Orlando, Florida decommitted from Tennessee today, after visiting Knoxville over the weekend.
  • Tennessee offered 3-star California safety Nikko Hall.
  • Tennessee offered 3-star Louisiana athlete Michael Williams.
  • Obviously desperately seeking immediate help on the offensive line, Tennessee offered 3-star JUCO offensive tackle from Virginia, Chase Brown.

I am 58 years old and I am well versed on the SEC, especially the University of Tennessee

I know and know of Phillip Fulmer as well as or better as anyone in this forum.

I stand by my statements. Let the AD do his job and the football coach do his.

Okay, blast away, people. I'm done with comments on the subject.

Its actually a really good thing in my opinion. The parents and coaches know Phil and what Phil was about and the high school kids relate to Pruitt. I'm with Rob nothing to worry bout here

AC, you know I place a lot of weight on the opinions of the old-timers here (even Rob :tongue1:).

We have been bouncing off each other since you and I had all of our hair. Went from the top, to rock bottom, and halfway back again.

Whether it works or not we're still all in it together again. Let's hope for the best.

Yeah this is addition by subtraction. Pruitt basically is telling a lot of the recruits look elsewhere. They don't fill his needs for the team. No one should be alarmed. I am actually glad to see this. I think for this first year Pruitt is gonna go the JUCO route

The one from Florida pretty much was told no thanks. I know some might laugh but with a more pro set system and some decent blocking I like my chances with a dormady or jg coming back and will McBride. Actually will be very interesting with good coaches how that plays out.

Pruitt knows what he's looking for. Still not too concerned.

Class Prediction (Early Signing Day Edition)
With 5 days until the first day of Early Signing Day, who do you think we will be able to consider a Vol on December 23rd when it's all over?

Here's my prediction:
Current Commits:
1. Alontae Taylor - WR (Recommited this week, will sign)
2. Ollie Lane - OL (Will sign on 20th)
3. Tanner Antonutti (Will sign on 20th)
4. Paxton Brooks - P (Will sign on 20th)
5. Greg Emerson - DL (Will sign on 20th)
6. Brant Lawless - DL (Will sign on 20th)

Commits Unconfirmed Early Signing:
1. Anthony Grant - RB - Not signing early. Visiting VT at some point.
2. Jacob Warren - TE - Coach Pruitt called and said he is wanted at UT, but unsure if he is early signing.
3. Matthew Flint - OLB - No longer has a scholarship offer. Decommited.
4. D'Andre Litaker - DL - Talk of being processed out. Unsure of his status with UT.

New Predicted Signees (My opinion only):
1. Jeremy Banks - RB (Pruitt is making him a priority)
2. Jerome Carvin - OL (Same school as Banks)
3. Badara Traore - JUCO OL (Austin Thomas FTW)
4. Dwayne Wallace - Grad Transfer OL
5. Shocky Jacques-louis - WR/CB (Tweeted out Vol picture today, may recommit and sign soon)
6. Greg Bell -JUCO RB (think we flip him from Nebraska)
7. Dominick Anderson - JUCO TE (#1 in Nation) (Possible, but I didn't include him on my final list. Longshot, IMO)

I doubt we get any SIGNEES more than this out of the weekend, and if we ended up with the 6 already committed + Warren + the 7 I predicted above, that'd be a great setup.

14/25 with these players left on the board that we are on the radar for, and some we even lead for:

1. Johncarlo Valentin - JUCO OL
2. Glenn Beal - TE
3. Jacob Copeland - WR
4. Coynis Miller - DL
5. Jahmir Johnson - JUCO OL
6. Jaron Woodyard - DL
7. Olaijah Griffin - DB
8. JJ Peterson - LB
9. Isaac Taylor-Stuart - CB
10. JT Shrout - QB
11. Nikko Hall - WR/S
12. Jaevon Becton - DL
13. Jaycee Horn - DB
14. Chase Brown - JUCO OL
15. Eddie Smith - WR/CB
16. Darian Kinnard - OL (should get an offer soon)
17. Malik Langham - DL
18. Jalen Cunningham - DL
19. Quay Walker - LB

And seemingly more offers popping up every day.

I'm pretty sure in that list we could manage 9 players out of that, especially since some of them are visiting and already pretty high on UT.

My (as realistic as possible) class:
1. Alontae Taylor - WR
2. Ollie Lane - OL
3. Tanner Antonutti - OL
4. Paxton Brooks - P
5. Greg Emerson - DL
6. Brant Lawless - DL
7. D'Andre Litaker - DL
8. Jeremy Banks - RB
9. Jerome Carvin - OL
10. Badara Traore - JUCO OL
11. Dwayne Wallace - Grad Transfer OL
12. Shocky Jacques-louis - WR/CB
13. Greg Bell -JUCO RB
14. Jacob Warren - TE
15. Johncarlo Valentin - JUCO OL
16. Jahmir Johnson - JUCO OL
17. Jaevon Becton - DL
18. Olajiah Griffin - DB
19. JT Shrout - QB
20. JJ Peterson - LB
21. Jaycee Horn - DB
22. Jacob Copeland - WR
23. Nikko Hall - WR
24. Coynis Miller - DL
25. Malik Langham - DL

Breakdown:
1 - QB (Shrout)
2 - RB (Bell/Banks)
4 - WR (Hall, Copeland, Taylor and Jacques-louis)
7 - OL (Lane, Antonutti, Johnson, Wallace, Traore, Valentin, Carvin)
6 - DL (Langham, Miller, Becton, Emerson, Litaker, Lawless)
1 - TE (Warren)
1 - LB (Peterson) (Definitely believe some more LB's will come from somewhere though)
2 - DB (Griffin and Horn), (Several players listed as ATH may be looked at as DB's as well, ex. Jacques-louis)
1 - P (Paxton Brooks)

Obviously, this is completely and totally inaccurate, but just wanted to give everyone an idea of what we were looking at right now, facing the early signing day and who is looking at signing and who isn't.

DEFINITELY can finish with a great class. Pruitt coaching Bama hurts from a period where evaluation could be happening, but he will be back on January 2nd or 9th depending on when Bama is knocked out. Plenty of time to get some visits in before signing day.

Anyways, GBO, and hoping for some commitments and excitement this weekend on Rocky Top.
