Do pay attention to schiano garbage

Recommended Posts

It was a 3rd party hearsay statement, from a guy who told a guy about a 20 year recollection. Think it was a 2 sentence testimony. Why didn’t the DA cross examine or subpoena Schiano to court for that allegation?

The discussion is really now futile. Schiano decision is in the dirt. Where the focus needs to be placed now is strictly on Currie and how (Not the Haslams) every big name surrounding the program allowed the coaching search from Currie to even get to Schiano?  Have you heard of any other team looking to hire this guy? But Tennessee was?

There's a bigger picture. Currie needs to go now. He apparently is either influenced by one booster or is too ignorant to listen to every other important people who want to see the program restored to greatness.

I didn't want Schiano, even without the Ped State baggage, but certainly don't want Petrino either (ask Atlanta Falcons and Razorbacks).  Mike Norvell is worth a look.

First post, new member, graduate of this great institution!

This program appears to have reached rock bottom and I did not believe, despite several others insisting it will get worse, that it could get any worse!  And low and behold, it did.  UT's credibility and relevance is at an all time low, hopefully not irreversable.  Living outside of Tennessee as I have for many years, it is easy to see that and quite frankly embarrassing.  We are becoming a program of Wow - remember the good ole days!  Even that image is getting smaller and smaller in the rear view mirror.

Me and my immediate family, all UT grads and rabib fans will be done if this disaster is not cleansed and fixed.

My hope is the UT organization can sack up and cut ties with a conspicuous character, Jimmy Haslam, who could end up in jail.   Several of his senior leaders at his Tenn. business are going to jail.  Cleveland Browns, well, enough said.  An embarrasment, is UT headed there?  We have certainly made a wrong turn and are on the road.

John Currie has proven to be a bad hire.  One thing any responsible leader learns early on is to minimize the risk as much as possible, to making a bad hire.  It always ends badly.  Mr. Currie needs to be escorted out of the building as soon as possbile.

It is time, actually way past time.  I am watching closely and I will be damn hard to please!

I am now uterrly ashamed of the UT Athletics department. I listended to the podcasts and Lake and Rob both said over and over this is something that is bad in the UT Athletics administration and has been for years. Boy you guys were right on that one. I am totally disgusted. This was another power play. It is terrible when NFL players that were former Vols would come out and say "I would quit and go coach the Vols if they would hire me"

Wittne said that. What does that tell you about former Alumni and players and what they think about this? Currie screwed himself. Charlie is pissed. Money will be withheld from support if action is not taken immedietely. What was frigging Currie thinking? I am scared to even think about it

The way I see it, UT in particular cannot afford to link themseves with Schiano's association to the PennSt scandal.

Notice I didn't say his involvment...

We are not so far removed from alleged T9 scandal ourselves, now isn't the time. It's too bad all around, but UT's reputation is on the line. I can imagine, some columnists at The Tennessean licking their chops hoping to drag UT through the mud again.

Anyway, I think we can do better than Schiano. He was only 50-50 at Rutgers, and stunk up the NFL. Not my choice, but I'd rather have Les Miles.

LOL...what a day to be a Tennessee fan!...at least we've made history to run off a coach before he's even announced!!

Some interesting debates and opinions, some of which are pretty funny...I personally love the "sue his ass" quote from Sterling!

When did ANYTHING ESPN say become relevant to any Vol fan? Yeah, exacty. I couldn't care less

Yep, there's a reason they're laying off everyone and losing money. Because they have no idea what their doing or talking about.

I feel ya...they are unbiased outsiders. Agreed in that regard, emotional detached from it for sure.

Just watched Finebaum, a Tennessee guy...he's concerned with who would possibly want to come to Tennessee now, and who's running the show.

Chris Low just reported that Peyton, who's a Tennessee guy, was a supporter of Schiano.

Anyway, it's a mess...I'd say Currie may not make it much longer...

Davenport statement:

"Statement from Tennessee Chancellor Beverly Davenport from Sr Associate AD Ryan Robinson:

“I deeply regret the events of yesterday for everyone involved. The university remains steadfast in its commitment to excellence, and I look forward to John Currie continuing the search...â€

Yeah sounds like the kiss of death support statement LOL

More BS from fat boy.

Peyton and Schiano do not get along. Peyton cursed him out to his face.

We are dead in the water if they don't fire Currie.

We have to be decisive. Show coaches we are serious.

Who is going to come work for Currie?

I truly thought Charlie and the other boosters and the BOT would be able to control this and get a great coach this time. Apparently from what I am hearing the boosters are so angry with Currie there is an emergency meeting to oust Haslam from control and call for Currie's head.

Anything related to Gruden is now under damage control. He was like the field mouse who was finally coming out to consider this and ANY perception of a bad deal or bad publicity pretty much set him into "Media Damage control" Not offered, Not Interested,,, blah blah. He scurried away at any hint of a fiasco.

The reasoning behind this if he WAS accepting and Currie took Schiano over him, it would look like Currie thought he was a better decision and would make JG look bad. In this case I cannot say I blame him on that.

I know this may be crazy...but could or would Fulmer step in as AD, even temporarily? I saw a great piece from Coach Tommy Tuberville about the huge value of having a coach in that position rather than guys with sports management degrees or pencil pushers that have no idea how to build a program and support the coaches in what they need help with
