Jalen Reeves-Maybin out for the season

Recommended Posts

Tennessee all-SEC linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin will miss the remainder of the 2016 season because of injury, John Brice of GoVols247 learned on Saturday.

Reeves-Maybin is scheduled to have surgery next week after visiting with famed orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday in Florida.

Earlier this week Vols coach Butch Jones said Reeves-Maybin wouldn't play against Texas A&M and wasn't clear when the linebacker would return to the field.

“Jalen Reeves-Maybin will be out this week,” Jones said, “and we continue to try to gather information for him and further evaluation to see what’s in his best interest, short-term, long-term. So he will be out this week.”

Reeves-Maybin played in four games this season, and he had 13 tackles in Tennessee's win over Virginia Tech at the Battle at Bristol.

The all-conference linebacker thought about turn pro after his junior season but elected to return to Tennessee for the 2016 campaign - which now appears to be over for him.
