Ark. puts Bobby Petrino on leave
Updated: April 5, 2012, 11:43 PM ET
Associated Press

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas put football coach Bobby Petrino on paid leave Thursday after he failed to disclose he had been riding with a female employee half his age when his motorcycle skidded off the road over the weekend - an accident that prompted him to apologize for that and for what he described as a "previous inappropriate relationship."

Athletic director Jeff Long announced the decision and said he had no timeline in determining Petrino's future with the Razorbacks.

"I'm at the beginning of the review. I don't know what I'm going to find," Long said.

Beth Hall/US Presswire Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino had a 25-year-old female passenger with him during a weekend motorcycle ride that ended with a crash that sent him to the hospital, according to a police report released Thursday.

Long said he was disappointed that he didn't hear about the passenger - former Arkansas volleyball player and current Razorback Foundation fundraiser Jessica Dorrell -- until a police report was released Thursday.

Man makes 3 million per year and no one ever told him not to F--k the employees? He will need to go pro.

Go pro? That worked good the last time. The NFL players have not one single ounce of respect for the guy. The jumping ship act he did with the Falcons is still not forgotten.

The guy is getting what he deserves.

Well... there is that head coaching job opening down in New Orleans. Can you imagine the reception Bobby would get the first time the Saints came marching into Atlanta?

Yeah Petrino is not very smart. You know you would think he would have looked at Arkansas as a second chance at redemption. Talk about blundering again and again.

he developments came as Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long considered the future of the football coach, whose salary averages more than $3.5 million.Long appears to have everything he needs to fire Petrino, but the question now is whether he actually will get rid of Petrino, who failed to mention having Dorrell with him during the accident and then admitted the two previously had an inappropriate relationship.

Yeah, a guy goes into a university locker room and hears something strange, a backyard barbeque, a motorcycle accident... isn't it funny how molehills suddenly become mountains? You'd think sooner or later coaches would learn that if you don't come clean right away you're asking for more trouble than you can handle.

I love reading how some of the fans still support him because he has shown the ability to win, if you fire everyone who has an affair we lose most of the workforce. They miss the point entirely. It has nothing to do with him having an affair. He had an affair with an employee, an employee he hired and works under him so to speak! This will get you fired from almost any management position same day. I was in favor of keeping Bruce Pearl but had he done this I would have been in favor of firing him immediately. It does not matter if she is 25 or 55, beautiful or butt ugly the axe must fall.

Yea it kind of pisses me off to hear the fans wanting to keep him. Fans are so friggin fair weather. There not ever going to beat Bama or LSU, which was there two losses last year. Move on. Try another coach. Guy has no character whatsoever. Their fan base is laughable right now. I bet Ortha Peters is re thinking his decision.
