I agree with 100% of that! Hoping to see Condi Rice on the ticket.

"Every citizen must prove they have health insurance or be taxed but no one can be forced to prove their citizenship. This makes sense in the liberal world."

That sounds fine & dandy until you get around to determining who gets to set the standards and who has to go elsewhere. Historically speaking, that hasn't worked out too well in places where the religious leaders get to make all the rules and enforce them. And more than one of the big-name religious leaders in this country have shown a disturbing propensity to do things in private that they publicly condemn.
And just for the record, I'm fine with people saying Merry Christmas although I'm not a Christian Bible-believer. Doesn't bother me in the slightest when they say a prayer at the start of the local high school football games either. Although last year some lady in her pre-game prayer complained, either to God or to the crowd dunno which, about prayer being banned in the classroom.
Now if the religious community would just give me the same consideration when I want to go buy a bottle of Scotch on Sunday...

No issue with a little whiskey here and there :-) Even the bible talks about all things can be lawful and expedient. Just moderation but I failed that part Friday lol
I am not a religious bigot. I guess I'm a moderate
but somehow somewhere there needs to be some standard you can't spend billions making everybody happy because it will never end. Heck I would be happy with the basic golden rules of 10 commandments and please let's not start on splitting hairs on some little things in them because then you prove my point. People get so fricking hung up on the letter instead the entent that now there is NOTHING set as a moral and sensible standard for ethics and common sense. So you have what you now the Roman Empire in decline part II. The 2012 version. It's Shame really.

I dunno Rob, I think every generation thinks things were better in their "good old days". I have to remind myself sometimes that someday these will be the good old days to a future generation. And honestly, when I hear older folks talk about their good old days I think about Jim Crow and McCarthyism and suddenly their good old days don't sound so great either. Matter of fact, I remember my Mom telling me that when she was a bobby-soxer back in the 40s my grandmother though their generation was going strait to hell courtesy of Frank Sinatra!

Oh I agree every generation has something like "The sky is falling" but it does seem the apathy and the lack of common sense has become tragic. I honestly cannot watch the news or read things anymore and it just shocks me. My mother told me years ago before she passed away that before I was dead Christians would become the enemy of the state and the government. I thought no way!
Honestly I see it in the news and in media everywhere. I am not making this a religious conversation just pointing out the "mentality" of society. You never hear of the churches that aren't hate mongers and give millions upon millions of money and have always done so to feed homeless and cloth people across the world. Now all you hear is that church going folks are close minded and hate everyone. And if you do expect a standard for people to live by you're now looked at as "close minded" and the enemy by most anyone in the media or news eye.
That is NOT a mentality I like seeing. I am not an alarmist but my goodness I go out to stores, shopping or dinner with my wife and even stop for a brew and some wings at a sports bar and it shocks me to hear people's perception in sidebar conversation and the actually dumbing down of many in America. It is a shame. I do agree to some of what you said we always have had chicken little's but I don't think it takes anyone much sense to see the apathy and laziness of thought in our society today.
