XL, my Verizon contract is up and i've been looking to upgrade. Is the Droid worth 200 bones?
I was looking at the Blackberry Tour as well, but now i'm reading the Tour2 is supposed to come out in the next month or so.
This will be my first Smartphone and really, all i'm looking for is to check box scores at games, e-mail & a little Twitter action. Do i really need all the apps and such with the Droid or is it too good not to have?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thx!

Basically I can set it up to get all your RSS feeds to the app for all topics you guys want and breaking news set up and maybe even main Vol forum topics read right through the app which is faster than browsing.

It has a 5MP camera, runs GPS (making a separate GPS unit unnecessary), has Google maps built in (it's a Google based operating system), and the apps are amazing. I use the WiFi analyzer to find available networks. I used GPS to map a route in the mountains that I would never have been able to repeat otherwise - used a tracking app for that which maps my trail onto the Google map and saves it for future reference. I downloaded a flashlight app that comes in handy. I have weather forecasts, satellite weather radar, multiple e-mails, internet, compass, guitar tuner, and it will locate any type of business you want. I was in Atlanta and it showed me the cheapest gas prices around, location of all Italian restaurants, and then it will pull up phone numbers automatically and verbally guide you turn-by-turn using GPS to whichever business you select. I can get views from every traffic camera in every major city in the US, and the games are great too. I have several that my 6-year-old loves, and keeps him occupied when I need to. The power and versatility of this thing is amazing. I didn't need it before, but I can't function without it now. And so far I haven't paid a dime for a single application.
I post on VolTalk on it too. Whic of course, is the number one priority.
So yeah, I would recommend it. And one funny thing - my I-phone buddies are jealous.

That about cinches it. I've been looking or some feedback on the Droid from someone who's owned one. All my more advanced IT/programmer type friends all jumped on the iPhone bandwagon right away. So while they'd said good things about it, i haven't conversed w/anybody that has one.
I'm just going to do a little more looking and/or keep my eyes open for a better deal on the Droid.
But one of my buddies nailed it. He said "You'd not think twice about ringing up a $120 bar/beer/wings tab on an all day bender, WTF are you doing worrying if something this good cost $150 or $200. You won't know how you lived before w/o mobile web access, so just get it and join the rest of us in 2006"
I hate it when my friends are right...
